I attended School of Visual Arts in NYC 1969 - 70. When I was young I visited a whaling museum and was greatly impressed by their authentic scrimshaw collection. 20 years later I decided to try it myself. I started doing scrimshaw in '78 and have been at it ever since. I like to think that, along with my fellow scrimshanders, I am helping to keep alive a quickly fading American art form. A couple of years ago I discovered wirewrapping, so I also have some wirewrapped jewelry at GOLA.

To see more, I have 2 Facebook pages: Stone&Bonescrimshaw and JohnKing wirewrapping
