Love at first sight!

While browsing through a beautiful little art gallery I fell in love with a necklace that was on display. I learned that it was made from polymer clay. I was captivated by the vibrant colors and gorgeous patterns and thus began my journey and my passion for designing with polymer clay.

Process

Working with polymer clay starts with conditioning the clay until it is soft and workable. Then the creative process begins. Decisions are made as to what pattern I am looking to create with the clay and what techniques I will use to achieve that pattern. I custom blend the colors of clay to be used and may further enhance the design by adding mica powders, foils, alcohol inks, paints or chalks to the clay. I implement the chosen techniques to create either a block or sheet of clay that contains the pattern and colors you will ultimately see in the finished bead. The block of clay is then cut into beads and baked to cure it. Once cured, the beads are individually sanded and buffed. I frequently apply resin to my cured beads to give them depth and a beautiful glass-like finish.

Polymer clay is an exciting medium to work with and each piece of jewelry is unique. I hope you get as much pleasure from my creations as I get from making them!
